Two updates from Amy from yesterday, the first one tells a little about how they got to the diagnosis & the second has good news...
The back story on how we got to Libby's leukemia diagnosis...
We started our road trip across the country during the 100 degree heat wave. Libby, our Seattlite, had never experienced that kind of heat, so we thought she was overheating from the weather a bit - not checking to see if she had any fevers, but looking back, she did. Then, we drove on and noticed she had a fever in Indiana, low, like 101, she was also getting in three teeth. Affect still happy go lucky and active. Then when we got to Philadelphia, she woke up in the night, with a low fever and vomited. My mommy alarm started to go off, but the fever went away, and she continued acting like herself during the day. We were in the midst of a lot of transition, so maybe she was just worn out. Two nights later, she had a fever of 103.4. The next day we took her to a random doctor we found near Nijay's work, because we still hadn't found a place to live. From the doctor's we were sent directly to the hospital for some blood work. We went back to our friends' house for dinner, and got a phone call telling us to go to CHOP, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, right away. After a long weekend in the hospital they gave us the news a week ago Monday.
Tomorrow/today, Wednesday, the 25th, is the next biggest news of her diagnosis. The spinal tap is scheduled for 1p.m. Pray her spinal fluid and her whole little body is healed and cancer free! God can move mountains!
From last night...
God is so good! The test for leukemia in Libby's spinal fluid today came back negative!!!
- which probably means no radiation and no heavier chemo drugs!!!! Thank you so much for your prayers!
Libby is handling chemo like a rock star, as she has been for the last 8 days. She got two heavy hitting meds today and was still dancing all day.
Aidan and Simryn are getting lots of playdates with "new friends," aka "strangers," who have kindly come alongside of us in our time of need.
Nijay and I are really drained, but hanging in there and so happy to have some good news to hang onto!
Keep Praying!!
